1. Executive Summary

The One Heart Community Trust is a charitable organisation currently in the final stages of establishment and registration in New Zealand.

Once formally completed, the Trust will become a recognised charitable partner of Hearts on Court, providing governance, transparency, and responsible oversight to ensure that funds raised through events and community initiatives are distributed ethically and effectively to support communities across New Zealand.

The Trust exists to:

• Support frontline emergency and health services
• Provide inclusive, accessible programmes for people of all abilities
• Deliver large-scale charitable events that bring communities together
• Empower youth with opportunities to lead and grow
• Celebrate volunteers and local heroes
• Strengthen community belonging, identity, and wellbeing

The flagship event Hearts on Court – Celebrity Netball Showdown will publicly launch the Trust in Year 1 (2026), followed by a staged national rollout in subsequent years.

The Trust is built on the principles of compassion, inclusion, transparency, collaboration, and sustainable long-term growth.

3. Purpose and Charitable Objectives

Aligned with the Charities Act 2005, the Trust operates for the following charitable purposes:

Supporting emergency services, disability organisations, health providers, mental health groups, and community charities that strengthen social wellbeing.

3.2 Advancement of Education

Providing youth pathways, leadership opportunities, inclusion education, and skills development through the Trust’s Heart Projects.

3.3 Advancement of Health

Supporting mental health initiatives, emergency health services, disability support, and wider community wellbeing programmes.

3.4 Other Community Benefits

Delivering community events, recognition programmes, and inclusive opportunities that build social connection and regional identity.

 

4. Regional Focus (Years 1–2)

During its initial establishment phase, the Trust will focus on programmes across:

• Wellington
• Hutt Valley
• Porirua & Kāpiti
• Wairarapa
This regional focus allows:
• Strong early partnerships
• Demonstrated capability before national expansion
• Localised community impact
• Responsible and sustainable growth
• Close collaboration with frontline charity partners
National expansion will be considered after Year 3, based on proven governance, stability, reporting, and demand.

5. Commitment to Collaboration, Not Competition

The One Heart Community Trust is firmly committed to working alongside existing charitable organisations rather than competing with them.

This includes:

• Supporting and strengthening existing charities
• Enhancing community services rather than replacing them
• Respecting councils, transport agencies, emergency services, and established trusts
• Building partnerships between organisations
• Ensuring that all activity strengthens the existing charitable ecosystem

The Trust exists to uplift, unite, and support — not disrupt.

6. Heart Projects — Core Programmes

The Trust’s charitable activities are delivered through a series of initiatives known as Heart Projects.

6.1 Hearts on Court – Celebrity Netball Showdown

Flagship Programme & National Showcase

Hearts on Court is the premier charitable event associated with the One Heart Community Trust.

The event serves as a major public platform for fundraising, awareness, and community connection, bringing together athletes, entertainers, media personalities, and communities in a unique celebration of sport and charity.

Purpose of Hearts on Court

1. Raise funds and awareness for frontline services
Supporting organisations such as Life Flight, Wellington Free Ambulance, mental health groups, disability partners, and community charities.

2. Launch the Trust publicly
Hearts on Court will introduce the One Heart Community Trust to the public and establish its charitable mission.

3. Celebrate community, charity, and sport
A high-energy, family-friendly event designed to bring people together for good.

4. Unite Wellington and the Wairarapa
Symbolically linking two connected regions through shared community purpose.  

 

National Expansion Model for Hearts on Court

Year 1 – 2026

Wellington Launch Event – TSB Arena

• First-ever Hearts on Court

Every 10 Years — Decennial Celebration

To honour the birthplace of the movement, every 10-year anniversary edition of Hearts on Court will return to Wellington as a special multi-day celebration.

This will become the Trust’s signature milestone event.

6.2 Hearts in Motion — Inclusion & All-Abilities Programme

Launching alongside Hearts on Court and expanding in Year 2.

This programme celebrates:

Launching in Year 2, supporting:
