Hearts on Court – Event Update

After careful consideration and discussions with our event partners, players, and supporters, we have made the difficult but responsible decision to postpone the upcoming Hearts on Court – Celebrity Netball Showdown.
Over the past week there has been growing uncertainty around travel and logistics due to fuel supply challenges and associated flight disruptions. With many of our players, guests, and supporters travelling from around New Zealand and Australia, it is extremely important to us that everyone can attend safely and without unnecessary stress or disruption.
Hearts on Court is a unique event that brings together some of New Zealand’s most loved sporting personalities, entertainers, and community champions to raise vital funds for important causes. Because of this, ensuring that all participants are able to travel and take part was a key priority in our decision.
We are also mindful of the current cost-of-living pressures many families are facing. By moving the event slightly later in the year, we hope to give supporters more time to plan their travel and enjoy the event together.
The good news is that Hearts on Court is not cancelled, it is simply moving to a new date, which will be announced very soon.
Working closely with our partners of which we are currently finalising the new date asap while continuing to raise funds for our charity partners:
• Life Flight Trust
• Wellington Free Ambulance
Thank You
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported Hearts on Court so far, from the players and partners to the many supporters who have already purchased tickets and helped spread the word.
The enthusiasm around this event has been incredible, and while postponing was not an easy decision, we firmly believe it is the right one to ensure the event delivers the experience that everyone deserves.
We look forward to announcing the new event date very soon and welcoming you to what promises to be a truly special night of sport, entertainment, and community spirit.

The Event
Hearts on Court – Celebrity Netball Showdown is a large-scale, professionally delivered charity sporting and entertainment event created to bring people together through sport, music and shared purpose — all in support of frontline and mental-health services that care for New Zealanders when they need it most.
The event combines a high-energy celebrity netball match with live entertainment, family friendly activities, and a strong community atmosphere. Well-known New Zealand sporting figures, media personalities, entertainers, and public figures come together on the court — not as elite athletes, but as everyday humans giving their time, profile, and heart to raise awareness
and funds for vital charities.
Irene van Dyk
Irene van Dyk is more than one of the greatest netballers the game has ever known, she is a symbol of humility, resilience, generosity, and heart, qualities we all aspire to live by.
We are delighted and honoured to have Irene taking part in this event.
Supporting vital
New Zealand charities
New Zealand relies heavily on charitable organisations to provide essential frontline services – particularly in emergency response, mental health, and crisis support. Hearts on Court was created to shine a positive spotlight on these organisations, raise meaningful funds, and remind people that behind every siren, every call for help, and every life saved is a human story.
One night. One court. One big heart.
Irene van Dyk is more than one of the greatest netballers the game has ever known, she is a symbol of humility, resilience, generosity, and heart, qualities we all aspire to live by.
Born in South Africa and proudly embraced by New Zealand, Irene’s sporting career is truly unparalleled. She redefined excellence in netball, becoming the most capped international netball player in history and representing both South Africa and New Zealand with distinction, including more than a decade as a Silver Fern. Her on-court achievements and countless accolades speak for themselves, but it is who Irene is off the court that truly defines her legacy.
One of Irene’s most enduring qualities is her unwavering belief that no single person ever achieves greatness alone. She has always acknowledged that success is built by teams by the people beside you, behind you, and supporting you along the way. Time and again, Irene has credited those around her, often without realising just how extraordinary that support network truly was and still is.
Throughout her career and long after retirement, Irene has consistently used her platform to uplift others. She has been a tireless advocate for community, youth, wellbeing, and inclusion, always giving back, always encouraging the next generation, and always doing so with grace rather than ego. Her leadership has never been loud or self-serving; it has been steady, principled, deeply humble, and most importantly, filled with genuine enjoyment and fun.
Irene van Dyk
Her presence brings not just credibility to this event, but heart, integrity, and purpose. She reminds us that sport is not just about winning, it is about connection, inspiration, teamwork, and lifting others up while enjoying the journey along the way.
For everyone involved in Hearts on Court, from players and volunteers to partners, sponsors, and the wider community Irene’s involvement is a true privilege. We are grateful for her trust, her guidance and her unwavering commitment to doing good. With Irene alongside us, we are reminded that when sport and community come together with the right intent, extraordinary things can happen. Not for recognition, but for impact and truly making a difference.
